Abstract

The opposition to metaphysics has been remarkably hyped by the Logical Empiricists, which also influenced the natural scientists. But a closer examination of the notion of Metaphysics in relation to Science as a field of study and a discipline yields a renewed understanding of both, not as opposites but complementary. In this context, the proponent liberally identifies the Metaphysics as gleaned from MArtin Heidegger and his prospect of scientific inquiry, elucidates on the notion of science and scientific criterion, articulates a metaphysical commitment in relation to scientific formulations about the natural world, and eventually asserts the view that it is possible to have a Metaphysics-free Science. The proponent maintains that Metaphysics is a conditio sine qua non in Science.
