Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at Newly Weds Foods (Philippines) located at Unit A, 103 Excellence Avenue, Carmelray, Industrial Park I, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna from June to July 2015 for a period of 150 hours. Newly Weds Foods (Philippines) manufactures food coatings and seasonings of high quality standard used in many industrial food sectors all over the country and South East Asia. The student was assigned in two sections at the technical department: Research and Development, and Quality Control. In research and development, the student learned formulation and modification, the different principles of product development, and the application of the products in different food substrates. In quality control, the student was able to inspect and analyze raw materials, perform in-line plant inspection and physico-chemical analyses to ensure the consistency, quality, safety and wholesomeness of the finished product. At the end of the plant practice, the student learned to gain self-confidence, proper work attitude, improve interpersonal and social skills in the work place through the interaction with people having different personalities, and experience the actual food processing operation in the food industry.
