Abstract

The seven local strains tested showed significant differences in maturity, yield, pod length, vine length and some definite botanical characters.

Singapore strains had the shortest pod, Bulacan strain the longest, and Los Baños Light Green was intermediate between the two. The Singapore strains gave the highest number of pods per plant, but Bulacan and Los Baños Light Green strains gave the higher weight of pods per plant. The singapore strains were the earlier maturing while Bulacan and Los Baños Light Green were the late maturing strains.
