Land use inventory of Laguna de Bay watershed areas
Issue Date
6-1990
Abstract
A survey of the watershed area of Laguna de Bay was conducted to assess its resources. An updated land-use map based on 1981 and 1982 aerial photographs was prepared for this study.
The watershed area covers the provinces of Laguna, Rizal, Cavite, Batangas and Quezon. Seven major land uses were identified namely, agricultural plantation area, cultivated area, open area, forest, brushland, built up area and swamp and marshes. The trends in land use and soil classification were analyzed. Potential ecological problems like population growth, reduction of forest area, misuse of farmlands and pollution of the lake were likewise identified.
